A one-of-a-kind, hand-made ceramic bonsai pot in a soft white glaze, measuring about 20 x 16 x 10 cm. Its front face is hand-painted after Katsushika Hokusai's iconic Great Wave off Kanagawa: a towering cobalt-blue wave breaking over slender boats, a small snow-capped Mount Fuji in the distance and a warm yellow sky, all outlined in black within a fine framing border. The remaining sides are left in plain white glaze, so the painting reads like a framed picture.
The clean rectangular form and low profile suit a wide range of styles — a group planting, a flowering tree or a shohin display — where the pot's artwork becomes part of the composition. Drainage and wiring holes are provided in the base, and it stands on four short feet. Sold as the empty pot only — no plant or soil included.
This pot comes with its own signed kiribako, the traditional paulownia-wood presentation box, included in the price.
