Glazed Ceramic Bonsai Pot – Painted Samurai and Rising Sun 19 x 19 x 19 cm

A hand-painted glazed ceramic bonsai pot, 19 x 19 x 19 cm, painted in cobalt blue with a single accent of iron red. A samurai in lamellar armour charges across the main panel with his sword raised, the red disc of the rising sun behind his helmet; Mount Fuji, a pagoda and a stand of pines fill the middle distance, and the scene runs on around the corner. Bands of seigaiha waves close the composition at rim and foot, carrying over onto the four corner feet, and the base is signed.

It is a bold, graphic pot, and it wants a tree with equal presence — a strong upright pine, a substantial deciduous trunk, or a group planting deep enough to answer the drawing. A central drainage hole and four wiring holes are provided in the base. Sold as the empty pot only — no plant or soil included.
