Rosemary bonsai
Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus, formerly Rosmarinus officinalis) is a Mediterranean shrub that grows old and gnarled on dry ground. This specimen has a dramatically twisted trunk of weathered deadwood, and a live vein running through it keeps the fine, aromatic foliage above alive and dense.
Why this specimen
The trunk does the work here. It twists and turns on its way up, silvered by years of weathering, and the green glazed oval pot with its painted branch motif sits well against the pale wood. It is an unusual subject for bonsai, and old rosemary with this much movement is hard to find.
About this piece
This rosemary was collected in Calabria and bought from a private seller. It is a one-of-a-kind tree: the photos show the exact plant you will receive, pot included.
