Pomegranate shohin bonsai
A small pomegranate with an old-looking trunk: gnarled, deeply fissured, with natural hollows where the wood has aged. The wired branches run out on a wide, low spread, so the tree reads as broader than it is tall.
Why this specimen
Pomegranate is one of the few small trees that gets its character from the trunk alone, and this one has plenty. The hollows and fissures are natural, not carved, and they sit well with the low, spreading branch line.
About this piece
The tree is planted in one of our own hand-painted samurai pots, a red sun over a mountain landscape. It is a one-of-a-kind piece: the photos show the exact plant you will receive, pot included.
