Olive bonsai

This olive is built around a tall, hollowed shari trunk, deeply textured bleached deadwood rising almost straight up, with a single narrow live vein feeding one low branch that sweeps out and down. The effect leans toward literati style: nearly all trunk and negative space, with the foliage doing quiet, understated work at the edge.

It's planted in a green glazed pot with a crackled, hand-worked surface that suits the tree's weathered character.

Why this specimen

A trunk this hollow and this tall, kept alive by one thin vein, takes real time and a steady hand to develop without losing the tree. The single sweeping branch is doing all the visual counterweight against that dramatic deadwood, which is exactly the kind of composition literati-leaning collectors look for.
