Olive bonsai

This olive is built around a dramatic shari trunk, a wide run of bleached, weathered deadwood carved by time rather than by hand, with a single narrow strip of living bark twisting up through it to feed a small crown of foliage. It's the kind of trunk that reads as sculpture as much as tree.

The foliage is deliberately sparse for now, a handful of branches with small silver-green leaves, leaving the deadwood as the clear focal point.

Why this specimen

Natural shari like this can't be faked or rushed: it forms over decades as parts of an old olive's trunk die back while a narrow vein keeps the rest alive. The result is a trunk with genuine age and presence, planted in a weathered, rustic glazed pot that matches its character.
