Olive bonsai, Olea europaea

This olive is 28 cm across and only 23 cm tall, so it reads as a broad dome. The crown is clipped dense and round, and it sits over a thick, flared root base. It is wider than it is tall, which is what gives the shape its calm, solid look. It comes in the ceramic pot shown.

The pot

The pot is a grey-brown unglazed ceramic, 20 x 15.5 x H6 cm, with a flat projecting rim, a stepped base band and cut feet.
