Japanese Maple bonsai, Acer palmatum 'Deshojo'

The reason to choose a 'Deshojo' is spring. The new growth opens a vivid scarlet and then turns green as the season goes on, and this tree is photographed in early leaf with that red flush showing. Under the colour is a thick, mature trunk with a strong curve and good nebari, styled in tiers. It comes in the ceramic pot shown.

The pot

The pot is a blue glazed ceramic with studded detail. The cool blue sets off the red young leaves.
