Trident Maple forest bonsai

This is a forest planting of Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum). About fifteen slim trunks grow together over a mossy mound, so the group reads as a light, airy stand of woodland. The leaves are the three-lobed ones Trident Maple is known for, and the tree changes colour and drops its leaves in autumn. The photos show it in early leaf. It is already planted in the ceramic pot shown.

The pot

The pot is a shallow cream-glazed ceramic oval, 35 x 29 x H5 cm. A wide, low oval is the natural container for a forest planting, because it shows the whole group at once.
