This bonsai pot is a wide, low rectangular tray in stoneware, finished in a warm brown that lets a planting read as a small landscape. At 43 x 31 x 7 cm it has a generous footprint but very little depth, the kind of proportion that works beautifully for group plantings, forests and flat-topped trees. The colour sits somewhere between bark and soil, so it never pulls the eye away from what is growing above it, and it shifts gently between deeper and lighter brown as the light moves across the surface.
